Since founding Leaf in 2002, Sumit has been leading the strategic business initiatives for the company. He has been connected with many aspects of the business, including business development, brand and business strategy as well as directing project teams in the development of design-intensive service and social innovations.
Prior to Leaf, he led the Experience Design (XD) teams at TBWA Interactive and Euro RSCG. He also held a key creative position at Rediff.com, as part of a founding team of digital web services, where he worked with the veteran advertising professional and writer the late Anvar Alikhan. For over two decades, he has worked extensively across a wide range of sectors including city infrastructure, public spaces, service industry and consumer-facing markets.
He is a strong advocate of “design for all”, which aims to ensure that the intent of creation should meet the needs of people, regardless of age, gender, abilities or cultural background, including future generations. He is equally fascinated by emerging technologies that positively impact people’s everyday lives and when used well, how it can enable a greater level of empathy-driven customer experience.
He holds a master degree in Communication Design from the National Institute of Design (NID) in Ahmedabad. Considering his interest and passion for teaching, it is possible that you may find him more often at the design schools and forums, an extension of his continued learning environments.
